Like most British SF&F writers of my generation, I grew up on "Doctor Who", "Star Trek" and "Star Wars", so the computer revolution of the 70s and 80s was a dream come true. For me it came a bit too late to influence my choice of degree, but the machines eventually invaded even the dusty world of academic publishing, and so my fate was sealed. Now I spend my days glued to a computer screen, peering with failing eyes at reams of incomprehensible, apparently random characters - or Perl, as we hard-core web programmers call it :)
Although you will find mention of SF books and computer software elsewhere on this website, this section is my outlet for all the bits that aren't strictly related to writing, but which might be of interest. If you're a fellow geek. And if you're not, why are you here? Get back to my books right now!
