Planning for Q4 2022

Every three months I get a fresh start in life. Well, maybe not a completely fresh start, but I revisit my writing goals, make course adjustments, and plan out how I'm going to spend the next thirteen weeks. The system I follow is called HB90, and you can learn more about it on Sarra Cannon's YouTube channel, Heart Breathings.

This quarter I'm starting out in full-on Halloween mode, with a witchy planner binder from...The Witches Planner. I ordered mine last year but it came a bit too late for Halloween, so I'm determined to enjoy the heck out of it this year!

Clockwise around the planner: Crow Moon candle from Monday's Moon, various Halloween-themed washi tapes, Tombow ABT dual brush pens, Pilot Capless Decimo fountain pen in Pearl White

Inside there are even more spooky goodies, including some themed dividers that I made myself using decorative card sheets and a We R Memory Keepers tab punch. As you can see, I have a particular thing for bats and spiders!

It's not really about the pretty exterior or cute paperclips, though - between those dividers is Sarra's printable planner, which has monthly, weekly and daily spreads to help you keep tabs on what you need to get done. I love to decorate mine with washi tape and stickers - I get a lot of the latter from ProcrastiPlannerEtc on Etsy, as Adrienne specialises writing-themed designs, including a whole set of HB90 collaborations for writing and self-publishing. This is the first time I get to use the launch day countdown stickers that I bought over a year ago! (Not visible on this spread, as they only count back eight weeks from launch.)

My favourite part of HB90, though, is the weekly review, where you look back on what went well, what the challenges were and what you can do better next week. It's a soothing ritual that really helps to set me up for the week ahead!

Last quarter was my most productive in a long, long time - I finished the first draft of a new novel, commissioned cover art, and generally got a long way towards self-publishing my first book in a decade. Here's hoping that Q4 is equally good, if not better!
