Vision On

I got my contract and payment through today for an article I submitted to Vision ezine - my first paid publication in a long time! The article, "Net Benefit", is about web hosting options for writers, and should be out in the May/June edition.

Macbook fixed - or not

Yesterday we went down to London to collect my MacBook from the Apple store, after two weeks under repair. The logic board had been replaced, so I assumed all would be OK. Imagine my disappointment, then, when I was working on it today and it suddenly shut down! I am beginning to think the problem lies with the battery - either that or there is something badly wrong with the machine as a whole :(

Editing progress

I've attended a couple of weekend "edit-ins" for NaNoEdMo, and revised my opening chapters of "Powderkeg Walk" based on critique feedback. Fantasy poses a particularly hard challenge when it comes to openings: too slow and the reader may lose interest, but too fast and he may have trouble taking it all in.

Au revoir, MacBook

My MacBook has gone off to Apple for repair, so I'm going to be sans laptop for a while - not ideal for editing. I'll just have to work from paper copies then type up my changes on the Mac Mini...

Delayed start

My NaNoEdMo efforts have been sadly delayed - I injured my back* on Monday and for two days was unable to sit upright without suffering agonizing pain. Added to that, my MacBook is wiped and packed up, ready to go off for repairs, so my only computer is the Mac Mini on the shared desk. And I can only sit at that for a few minutes at a time before it gets really uncomfortable...

I've been reduced to redrafting scenes in longhand, just to be able to make some progress on the editing front. On the plus side, I haven't been able to go to work since the accident - but it's getting really boring, not being able to do anything but read for most of the day :(
